Hi There,

My current control setup is as follows; An NCE Powercab, DCC Concepts Power (5 amp), DCC Concepts Alpha Box. I want to add a second NCE handset but some distance from the main control point (only a few metres - but far enough!). I can see that DCC Concepts produce a small, 3 socket extension panel but don't quite get how to wire everything up - advice please!
Many thanks

You should use a small plugin UTP {extension} Panel, which has 2 x sockets on the front and a 2 more at the rear. Place it where you want the additional control to be and connect the rear socket on the original to one rear socket on the second, with an extension lead, similar to the one you have for a second throttle, they can be purchased in various lengths dependant on the distance you require.

You can daisy-chain several more, using the second socket on the UTP Panel.

You can see the system on page 12 of the Manual.  It is perhaps clearer than I was about which 4 wire cable to use with the RJ-12 connectors, too.

I should also, perhaps, have mentioned, that any additional Cabs should have a Cab Address different to the others you use.

Think I have just answered my own question and identified a bit of a misunderstanding. I can see that the UTP panel is produced by NCE but I am no longer using the original NCE panel as all of my power to the layout is now via DCC concepts Alpha Power and Alpha box so I need to know how to connect to this via a DCC concepts extension (3 socket) panel and the alpha box!

Mister Rusty
Personally, l would talk directly to DCC concepts, their advice is excellent,  and free.
I am in no way connected to them, other than as a VERY satisfied customer.

Undoubtedly CHris or Mick will respond to your email within a day or so, but I can summarise here...

* Use the "Alpha Panel". Connection is simple but if you need, we can also talk you through it. Don't hesitate to ask.
* The connection needs to be a reverse-wired RJ12 (that is an RJ12 cable whhich has one plug oriented upwards, the other downwards)
* If you wish, we do offer these custom made to your specified length at reasonable cost. Just give us a call or email after measuring the distance between the system and the panel (Also allow for the bends and "up-and-downs" between the two so you can dress it nicely under the layout)

regards, Ahjay
