I have a Hornby 'Thomas' fitted with a ZN8H using a Sprog for control with JRMI software. The software and DCC's CV guide show CVs 30 and 31 as 'IMPULSE' Stimulation frequency and Stimulation level respectively. The NMRA standards differ in that CV30 is for Error information and CV31 is reserved for NMRA use.
What is the purpose of these CVs?

They are a form of secondary motor stimulation for sticky mechanisms. Almost never needed as the self-adjusting BEMF takes care of most needs.

Thanks Ahjay. I presume the increase in frequency relates to the square wave sent to the motor but what about level (CV31)?
