Hi all
I'm looking to put some Led status lights for 2 switched tracks controlled by a Cobalt digital IP motor.  There are some excellent examples showed with the leds connected to the two dcc lines and to the frog line.  The leds are limited by 3k-5k resistors and the frog line is protected with a diode. But none of the documents say what kind/value of diode to use.

I'd like to use the technique but don't know what diode to use.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jay Ruppel

Use a 1N4001 diode - they are about the most common (and cheapest!) available.
Note that there was an error in the diagram in some Digital IP manuals - the diodes in one leg face the incorrect way.

All four should point the same way, such as this.

Hope this helps

Mick, both pieces of info were great.  I'm trying to control my cobalt motors from a panel.  Base on what you said does this look right?  Is the wiring for the push button correct to activate the motor?
Thanks again for all your help,
