I am even more confused now!! I talked to the sales people at DCC and was told that it was not that simple being as my control was via a Prodigy set up.
He told me I needed other components to make the prodigy compatible. The cost would be in excess of £500.00. As a result I am still seasrching!!
Chris

Either of the NCE systems would be a deal cheaper than the £500 you mention and straight forward to set up, too.

The added cost...

You need an Alpha Power and Alpha box. Total added cost vs say using with an NCE is actually only £169.

It may be wworth talking to Richard Brighton on 01729 821 080 to get the overall information correct (Richard works 10~5 most days with the occasional minute or two off for good behaviour).

Hi Ahjay, not been able to get hold of Richard as yet. Is it not possible for me to connect some diodes and momentry swithes to the Cobalt SS points controller, or am I being too simplistic?

This started out as a request for help with mimic panels but has now morphed into 'which DCC system is suitable for what'!!

In the hope that someone might have a definative answer my next question is:- What equipment do I need to run a DCC layout with 30 points incorporqating a points control panel and a mimic panel. Chris

Richard has been at the office all dau... only out for 1/3 hour of lunch. Here is here tomorrow all day too.

Yes, you could connect switches. How to do that is in the instructions. If you want you can even use a form of diode matrix for routing

I would strongly recommend the NCE system - either the PowerCab or the Power Pro system. If you prefer a screen based unit then the Z21, or if a consolde the EcOS system. All of them will vontrol hundreds of point (many more than your existing one by the way, which is actually relatively limitied in how many it can do.

A conversation with Ahjay, at the Ali Paly exhibition left me with the Alpha Encoder and Alpha Mimic boards in the bag.  One of the best purchases I have ever made.

True and I still stand by the comment.  Use either switches on the control board, or the NCE Handset and the LEDs match to the points set.
