Hi everyone. I have a mimic panel set up on my layout. 3 of my tracks require the LED's to be permanently lit. Can some one please advise me how to do this. They will not have addresses so cannot go through the mimic board. Len

Not being sure about what you are trying to do, or whether your mimic has any spare capacity, might it be possible to plug a "Y" extension into the mimic, with a further "Y" extension plugged into the first and give it an address.  That would provide you with three Led connections on the "Y" sockets.

Thanks for your reply Julian. The parts of the tracks that I am referring to are always available, no matter how the points are set. I have a green LED on each one of these pieces of track that I want to be permanently lit. As they will not be linked to any point they will not have an address. I wondered if they could be wired to the mimic boards incoming power supply maybe with a resistor. Len

Hi Len,
Is the Mimic a Cobalt Alpha Mimic, with a set of LEDs which plug into the mimic?
Is the mimic powered by DC or DCC?

If that's the case, the mimic board will already have the addresses set and it will read any instructions for those addresses, independant of any points the other LEDs on the mimic might be paired with.
If you have a spare mimic output, you can plug into it, set the address to on and leave it on.  If you want three to run, you can use the DCC Concepts extension leads, with two of their "Y" splitter boards, to link all three LEDs together.  That way you won't need any resistors and is simple to do.

If you haven't got an Alpha Mimic panel, you will need resistors, dependant on the voltage you have available.  This link gives some examples, with LED values and some example calculations.  The examples are well down the page and the introduction at the beginning is really clear.
