Hi,

Steroetypically I am returning to the hobby after 30 years and its my first foray into DCC and hoping for some advice please.

I am running NCE powercab and have just fitted my first two IP Cobalt point motors and to my amazement both  the trains and point motors worked off off the handset.

Afte a few test runs with a Heljan class 33 I found  that the system would trip out as the engine passed over the point. I  think i have wired correctly ( as per Brian Lambert website, Peco instructions, etc ) with two insulating fishplates and a frog power feed so can't fathom what I have done wrong. At first I thought I had blown the point motors so removed them  and checked them directly with the handset and to my relief they are fine. Wired everything back up and I'm still getting the same problem. The points are electro frog and I have cut the factory bonding wires and soldered new ones.

Apologies for asking for help with what is probably a very basic mistake - if anyone has any ideas on what I have done wrong or what I could check I would  be very grateful.

It sounds like you might have wired up the frog supply the wrong way round.  Simply switch over the two supplies at the Cobalt IP switch bank to reverse the feeds, so basically change the two wires over in terminals one and two.

*** Try Bb's advice first as it's the most logical answer. If you still have a problem we can work through it step by step to find an answer. I am very confident that it will not be a problem related to the point motors themselves.
