Hi John

Thanks for this. It is just a mimic panel I am planning. The points are switched via Alpha Central units.

Hi Ron,

I recently designed and built my own mimic panel, using two DCC Alpha Mimic Controllers. I have 25 sets of points that are mostly cross overs. My layout has three complete loops, with the lower level one being two loops except for about  1.5 mtrs that a single track.

Mine is built to A4 size, perhaps it's a little crowded, but I had a small display case that was suitable to house it in. I used SCARM software for mine, laminated the printed copy, glued to a sheet of 2mm board then cut the relevant holes.

I'm using green LEDS for straight thru and red for when diverging. The two additional tracks at the bottom indicate which of the loops is set by the points, red for one track, green for the other depending on how the points are set.- (useful as these loops are behind me when I'm operating the shunter in the dock area of the layout. The additional LEDs were attached using the DCC MMA3 connectors that allow up to six LEDs to attached from one outlet on the Mimic Controller.
The panel is hinged at the bottom for access and two magnets hold it in place vertically. It's fixed to the wall at the ideal height to view when several locos are running round the layout.

Hi Malc

Thank you for this. It’s good to see some pictures of how others have done it.

This is my mimic panel at the moment. I say this as I am going to change it after the lockdown is lifted a little more. The second pic is the Point control and a programming track with DCC Concepts rolling road.

Hi Len

Thanks fo this. It gives me the idea of splitting the layout as yours is in three, to get the key elements on the diagram. It’s another option.

Hi

Can someone please advise me the overall diameter of the DCC Concepts mimic panel lights (not the switches) ie the diameter that will show on the panel.
Thanks
