The plate is 1970 so Era 6, but also appears in Era 7 as it would have 'been on the road' then with other Jam Sandwiches. 😃

Jaz, were you aware you have started another thread with the same picture and continued conversation and the same title?

If that is the case I'm sure a different title would be very helpful.

The ERA sections have sub titles, and in each era repetitive items such as  Police, Post etc are themes for each ERA.

Below the word Police, you can tell where that thread is based, e.g. Era 6 or Era 7, and yes it is in both ERAs as it started in one but is commonly regarded as being in use in the later Era. There fore for anyone looking for which are appropriate Eras to use those specific vehicles it is in both.

I can see how the confusion can arise, but the title with the police car in question refers to the later era and overlooks it started just in the previous era, so I have it in both, and thus can look odd, until you understand why, and how to differentiate. At the top of this thread here you have

Police

Era 6 1967´1971 British Rail Blue Pre TOPS

The other is in an adjacent Era because of rollover. As police updates, post updates and railway updates are in no way coordinated.

Unfortunately this will happen from time to time even with locos as Companies were often slow to update the rolling stock, and we have all seen rolling stock running with new and technically obsolete stock liveries, which are yet to be rebranded. Then there is any number of items that run on preservation lines and can do the same thing.

The idea here is for the reference to be what would have been accurate at the time in question. So modellers have a quick reference as to what would be reasonable for them to model if they choose a specific era. Some items would have crossed Eras (you can even argue Era dates although we use the Wikipedia accepted version) and thus will appear in more than one Era.

When adding reference then it is useful if one can specify how long an item was in proper use with the 'Company' that it belonged to, and if one is aware of any known instances where it might have been in use beyond what was usual.

There will of course always be excuses for items appearing AFTER they originated, but do expect for people to burn you if you try to use them BEFORE they existed 😃

Oh and if in TOPICS the title e.g. Police is to the left, but look right and it tells you where the topic is housed. So if you see two same title threads, you can check which category they are derived from.

If you are still struggling, or want me to add the item in the title as you think it still difficult please just ask.
